Summer is approaching, and the heat and sun that follow threaten to weigh us down and throw us off balance. <\/p>

The body’s systems will cope with the rising temperature, general fatigue, and difficulty functioning, and will seek the balance that allows us to survive the hot summer months. <\/p>

Both our hair and scalp are affected by the weather, sun exposure, heat, and humidity. <\/p>

On one hand, our hair loves the sun\u2014sun exposure improves blood flow to the capillaries that nourish the scalp and hair follicles.<\/p>

The sun also increases the rate of hair growth and strengthens it, adorning the hair with stunning highlights. <\/p>

However, excessive sun exposure can damage the hair. <\/p>

The hair and scalp will absorb the heat and solar radiation, suffer from humidity changes and perspiration, and cope with numerous direct damages. <\/p>

Relatively minor damage from increased sun exposure can include drying of the skin’s epidermal layer and changes to its pH balance (acidity level). Exposure to infrared sun rays can also cause the appearance of flaky, peeling skin. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

More severe damage will occur after the scalp is exposed to high-intensity sun radiation for an extended period. The exposure can slow the removal of fatty acids that compose sebum (natural oil), and as a result, regular activity at the hair roots will be disrupted. Abnormal metabolism will make the hair thinner and weaker, and may even lead to significant hair loss several weeks later. <\/p>

People suffering from oily scalp and dandruff may worsen the condition with sun exposure, since the oiliness attracts dirt and toxins, creating the “BURNING SCALP” phenomenon, and therefore they need to shampoo daily with a gentle therapeutic shampoo. <\/p>

People suffering from dry scalp and hair may experience additional dryness as a result of strong direct heat. <\/p>

So how can we prevent damage to the hair and scalp? <\/strong><\/p>

Here are some useful and practical tips:<\/p>

When you leave the house, use a head covering and tie up your hair.<\/p>
